Help

  1. I lost my password! :-(

Go to the homepage and fill out the form labeled "forgot your password", we will e-mail you with the way to reset it.

  2. What are you doing with my Twitter information? :-o

First of all, we never save your Twitter password. We use the information to verify that you are indeed who you say you are. After that, we automatically follow the "nearlybot" on Twitter so we can send you a direct message. You can unfollow us on Twitter, and you can remove your near.ly account at anytime to stop the messages.

  3. Are you going to sell my information? >:-o

Never. We only keep your e-mail address for when you lose your password. Other than that, we will never sell or give away any of your information.

  4. Can I delete my account at any time? :'-(

Yes. All information will be removed and you will need to sign up again if you want to use the system.

  5. Why did I get so many direct messages when I added my Twitter account? :-S

We send you the last few news stories within the last 7 days from within 1000 feet of your location when you first sign up. This gives you an idea of what's going on as well as giving us a starting place. You will only receive the newest messages from then on.

  6. ARGHHH! My text message charges are going to be huge! Can you help me?!?!? >>>>>>>>>>:-o

Nope. Sadly, Twitter handles all text messaging. We just send you a direct message and from then on Twitter handles the message. There are settings on Twitter that allow you to stop receiving DMs as text messages.

  7. Do standard text message rates apply? :-/

Yes. We can't stop Twitter from texting you, we can only tell you that standard text messaging rates apply. Twitter allows you to stop receiving DMs as text messages. See above.
